About Us

Cinetopia is a creative collaboration creating events and projects that foster the discussion and appreciation of film in Edinburgh and beyond.

Cinetopia is a film society and organisation aiming to make film and filmmaking more approachable and diverse within Edinburgh and beyond. We offer low-cost film screenings for local communities and organise free and regular networking events that bring filmmakers in the early stages of their careers together with seasoned producers, festival directors and freelance film practitioners.

We believe it is important to bring alternative cinema experiences and film related events to audiences, and we want to maintain a low threshold in all our events, keeping them affordable and inviting everyone who is keen on film to attend.

We run a regular cinema meetup and a monthly radio show and podcast on EH-FM in which we review upcoming releases, talk to local filmmakers and film practitioners, and highlight upcoming film events in and around Scotland.

In 2018 we partnered with many other festivals and organisations including the Leith Festival, Gallery 23, Radio Summerhall, Scalarama, and Edinburgh Short Film Festival. Check out our annual report below for more information on our past events, contact us if you have an idea for an event you would like to organise, and keep an eye on our website for our upcoming meetups, masterclasses, networking nights and our upcoming film screenings in Edinburgh!
